I may consider starting over or not... I'm not sure.
I'm considering starting over this project for some reasons, but at the same I'm not completely feeling like doing it either. I've started my project when MZ was just about to come out... which was like in 2020... but I never showed up my project on itch before like 3 years ago, because my early versions were very terrible that I didn't bother to upload them...
I'm running into a lot of issues myself, because I've been building this project from a relatively old version of MV, and some of issues could maybe be caused by being built from said old version causing issues/errors. and it could maybe be fixed if it was re-made from scratch with a newer version of MV from a blank project, but the thing is I would have to re-do everything from scratch. The maps, the page contents, the cutscenes, the writing , which is why I'm not too keen on starting over completely, but at the same time if started over I could re-ogranized the 'Switches or variables' which often mess up certain actions the way I intend them to play or to be. Over the years I forgot how accomplish certain things and probably don't remember how to re-do them. As a an artist my drawing speed hasn't gotten better so it takes a while to do just a few drawings, but that's unrelated to choose whether I start over or not from scratch in a new blank project. But I'm trying to come up with a closure with the MC being able to finally get together with Taramiel... which was always something I had in mind
So I'm half and half decided wheter to start over or no.

In the end well all be happy w youre decision. Ik ill love playing the og, but whatever youre brilliant mind creates id be happy to play
U definitely have support if u choose to start from scratch. Your game have a lot of potential. And also consider adding a patreon so u could get paid. Money is always a motivation. Also this would give u a chance to change some of the endings like the mom ending. Or when the main character gets captured. I hope for the best whenever u decide
Honestly just take your time, you put a hell of a lot of effort into the first one with the worldbuilding and all of the smaller characters even. It largely depends on what you want to get out of the game. If you see yourself wanting to seriously make this game out of a labor of love for the project, then taking the time to get it done right is the best way to go about it. Reworking the small details to fit your vision to something you imagined while showing others what your ideal model would be the ultimate fulfillment if you enjoyed this project. If you dont feel like you enjoy it, you can just put the band-aids on it, fixing it up enough to just run the majority of it and push it out to get it done and over with so you can take a breather from it and move onto something else. Regardless you shouldn't feel too pressured into it because this is a hobby intended for you to express your creativity. If you dont enjoy these things then just take a break. I had a fun time playing with what was here and I have you to thank for that. TLDR: how much you enjoy and care about this should determine that. Pretty straightforward from there.
You are an incredible artist. The new generation has forgotten how to build games with good gameplay. One of the great brilliant ideas you had was to create a story with more than one type of ending. Only geniuses have the courage to do that. We are already your fans. When you create your new game, also use the Patreon platform. That way, we can help you finance your work. At first, it's only enough for coffee, but as you become known, things tend to improve. We in your fan club will help with the promotion.
Using MZ may refresh this beautiful game, I think
The MV plugins that I have been using for this project won't work with MZ unfortunately...
As much as starting over seems like it's going to be a big task (and it is), you can always remember that you have the current version of the project as a very strong base. The writing/dialogues, art styles, templates, maps and plot is all done and it's good, so you can use all that as the base for the new project instead of starting from scratch, which probably will help out a lot.
It's a shame that the coding can't be re-used and it's mostly likely that you will need to start that all over. But at least you won't need to worry about performances issues and bug that happens because of the engine verison difference over the years, so that's that at least. Plus, since you've grow as a developer, this also means you can make the game be closer to your vision.
Working from scratch might be more beneficial in long term with current and possible future projects. You can use previous artwork as placeholder and slowly with time replace it with new art.
